Walk, Run & Cycle times are OS Estimates

Hilary, Sophie and I are joined by Jackie for a walk up one of the low Lake District fells, Latrigg to complete ticking the Northern Fells.  It is the first day of a 3 day stay at Low Wray Campsite on the edge of Windermere.

We start out from the Otley Road car park in Keswick and make our way through the town until we cross the A66.  There’s a good view of Latrigg and also of the surrounding much higher peaks on the Skiddaw and Coledale ranges.  We also come across a wood store, but no Hilary, Sophie can not manage one of these for the log store.

The walk up is on a good path with a steady incline.

The top is soon reached and rewards with great views.

I’d planned a circular route, however the heavy rains have caused paths in the area to be closed due to landslides.  The re-routed path I choose to take back was not the best – way too steep, but we got down ok.  It was then an easy walk back to town and well earned Crepes at The Wild Strawberry.
