Leeds & Liverpool Canal

A 127.25 mile journey from Leeds to Liverpool, through various landscapes extending from modern urban Leeds, to the rural Aire and Craven valleys, passing the industrial legacy of the cotton mills of Lancashire before ending at the historic port of Liverpool.
My journey was completed in 7 "walking" legs, over 140 miles when taking into account the extra miles to get to various public transport connections, but there are many alternative ways to experience these fascinating canal towpaths and a great part of the fun was planning the route.
An excellent resource that can help plan walking the canal is A Photographic Guide to Leeds & Liverpool Canal with advice for Walkers and Cyclists and well worth a browse through even if not route planning.
