I headed to the Lakes with Paul this Sunday without Jet as we planned to ascend to Helvellyn via Swirral Edge. The start is in Glenridding and with Birkhouse Moor reached very easily.
Catstye Cam is another easy walk passing by Red Tarn. Small north facing hollows still shelter the remains of the winters snow.
As the weather starts to close in we climb along Swirral Edge for the final climb up to Helvellyn. No photo of Helvellyn top (already ticked off with Paul on the Lakes 3,000’s weekend) as the weather is grotty. White Side is reached going down the ridge to Helvellyn Lower Man before a short ascent.
The plan had been to include Raise on this walk, but the weather was foul so we cut our losses and headed straight down to Glenridding
