After a few months gap I return to hills around Wast Water. This time starting down at lake level and climbing Seathwaite Fell, Great End, Lingmell skirting the bigger more famous Scafell peaks. I park at the car park just before the Wasdale Head Inn and head up the valley past the pub.
Walking up the valley follows a gentle incline with great vistas ahead, but not forgetting to turn around and look back as well.
The top of Seathwaite Fell is reached having past Styhead Tarn
The route to Great End drops down to Esk Hause edging round Sprinkling Tarn
It’s a day when the clouds occasionally are low enough to spoil the views as is the case heading onwards to Lingmell
The cairn is at the top of Lingmell Crags, with a rather good view of the gap down to Piers Gill. From the top of Lingmell the walk is over tufty grass with Wast Water for company as the sun starts to set.
