A month ago I’d walked past Dodd with Stef and Tuss, leaving it for a later date, which is today. Hilary, Sophie and I are accompanied by Stef, Andrew and Tuss for a New Years Eve walk and visit to Keswick for a bit of lunch, shopping and Christmas lights viewing. A small disappointment in that the bacon buttie wagon at Kirkby Lonsdale is closed, so had to make do with a Booths Cumberland Swirl Sausage Sandwich.
The walk starts from the Dodd Wood car park and a lovely stroll up through the woods, passed waterfalls and with 2 keen dogs wanting to know why everyone else was so slow.
As I’d found out on the last walk there is a lot of forestry management underway. Hilary spots the log she wishes to take back to supplement our log store. The path continues through the woods and eventually breaks out to give amazing views back to Derwent Water where sun shafts appear in the distance.
The peak is breezy, but the views are worth while.
