Walk, Run & Cycle times are OS Estimates

The walk starts from the Queens Head Hotel at Townhead Brow, Troutbeck after a quick coffee pit stop.  However, at the time of writing this blog (Sept 2016) the hotel is closed, so check to see latest. First destination is Troutbeck Tongue, which I should have done on Walk 3.  This feature in the middle of the Troutbeck Valley is a very pleasant detour with great views both ahead and behind on a gorgeous sunny day.

The peak is not high, but there are good views around the valley.

The route now follows the ridge of the tongue down into the valley passing waterfalls and the famous Slate Bridge.

It then heads up to the saddle of Threshthwaite Mouth.

Before turning left up to the peak of Stony Cove Pike the summit for Caudale Moor, giving views back to the Froswick, Ill Bell and Yoke ridge from Walk 3

The return is then down passed John Bells Banner and St Ravens Edge to meet the top of the Kirkstone Pass at the Kirkstone Pass Inn, where a welcome break is taken.  I then follow the road down towards Ambleside before being able to join a path through some woods along side the road.
