Parking is off the road close to Troutbeck Church.
The initial walk is lovely stretch of the legs gradually going up the side of Applethwaite Common to reach Garburn Pass, passing by Sours Howes and attaining a point reached in Walk 2 on the way upto Sallows. There are great views down into the valley, however there is quite a bit of mist on the tops. Here I head along the ridge to Yoke, through the mist which is fortunately not too thick. Note the first Wainwright bagging!
From Yoke, its a fine ridge walk to the next 3 peaks – the first being Ill Bell with a great cairn.
Along to Froswick
And finally Thornthwaite Crag, where the bag is lost in th mist, before descending Park Fell Head into Troutbeck Park and around The Tongue. Rather foolishly I’d not registered Troutbeck Tongue as Wainwright, so did not actually go up it – will have to do next time !
The final leg to the car is now in much better light.
