Walk 2-OS Route Details
Walk, Run & Cycle times are OS Estimates

My second walk started the collection of the Far Eastern Fells.  My thinking being that I’d collect by book starting with the area closest for me to get to from home, however as time went by this did not map out .  This first walk in the Eastern Fells took in the 2 most southerly hills of the book Sallows and Sour Howes.

Having set off early, its about an hour and a half drive for me, I parked up in Kentmere where Wainwright indicated and set off.  The area is lush and green with easy walking, although there was hazy mist about.

An unexpected delight was Kentmere Hall nestled into the valley.

Once passed the Hall I follow Crabtree Brow and Garburn Pass onto the hills, and the first peak Sallows.
Not the most inspiring top and the views are hampered by he misty conditions.

The walk then continues onto Sour Howes, through a similar flat landscape, but the peak at least has a better marker at its top.

The descent down gives views of Windermere and as I’m following Hill Wood just, before ending in Kentmere, I am dive bombed by a bird of prey – sorry no pictures all to fast.

For those that continue to read the walks, you will note the absence again of “bagging” in these 2, as well as on.
